Fonds consists of textual and graphic materials received, created, and collected by ceramicist Paul Mathieu. Records relate to Paul Mathieu’s practice as an artist, writer, and teacher, as well as his international training and education in ceramics, and his professional contributions to, and recognition in, the discipline of contemporary crafts. Fonds contains a significant amount of personal and professional correspondence.

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by Paul Mathieu. Correspondence takes the forms of letters, postcards, written notes, photocopies of e-mail exchanges, holiday cards, and greeting cards. Correspondence also contains photographs, sketches, artworks, exhibition invitations, business cards, press releases, newspaper clippings, publications, receipts, administrative and financial records. Correspondence is written in both English and French. The series has been organized into the following six subseries:

Subseries consists of correspondence sent and received by Paul Mathieu’s mother, Gertrude Mathieu (née Rondeau), residing in Bouchette, Québec. Correspondence includes: letters, postcards, holiday cards, and exhibition invitations. Some letters are addressed to Raymond Mathieu, Paul Mathieu’s father. Letters sent to Gertrude Mathieu from Paul Mathieu and others were returned to Paul Mathieu after Gertrude Mathieu passed away in 2013. Correspondence is written in the French language.
